Learn-to-Swim for Schools
Bayside Aquatics offers local schools a comprehensive ‘Learn to Swim’ service. Delivered as an intensive program over one or two weeks (5 or 10 days), students move through a structured progression chart as they develop new skills.
At the commencement of the program, all students are assessed to determine their existing skill level and are grouped with their peers accordingly. Assessment of students continues throughout the program and skills progression is documented. All lessons are 40 minutes duration to ensure consistent delivery of the curriculum.
Bayside Aquatics retains student records so that, each year, we can continue to challenge swimmers to build on their skills and aspire for new goals. Students graduate from the program with a certificate to acknowledge their progress and achievements.
Schools can also choose to incorporate a water safety and/or ‘fun’ session into their program.
Beach Program for Schools
Bayside Aquatics offers schools a Beach Program service. Delivered as an intensive program over 3 or 5 days. Students move through a structured program as they gain new skills and survival techniques that can be used in an open water environment.
The program consists of various lifesaving based activities that are designed to encourage a safe and fun environment to give all children the confidence around being in an open water area as well as gaining new skills along the way. All lessons are between 1– 2 hours in duration to ensure consistent delivery of the curriculum.
Each year, we continue to challenge students with furthering their skills and gaining more confidence in a beach environment. Students graduate from the program with a certificate to acknowledge their achievements.
Schools can also choose to incorporate a carnival type session into their program.
Bayside Aquatics can host school swim carnivals, with the ability to hire out the pool for full or half day periods. We are able to provide equipment, including chairs and tables as well as a PA system for schools to use during their carnival time.
During these carnivals schools will have full use of all the facilities including the change rooms and stadium seating.
A lifeguard must be present during swim carnivals and will be coordinated by Bayside Aquatics. If the numbers attending are predicted to be greater than 100 (this includes both students, staff and spectators) we do require an extra lifeguard to be present to ensure the safety of all patrons within the centre.
